Ceredigion Young Carers in the woods

Written by Tir Coed / Wednesday 21 September 2016

Young carers around Ceredigion spent a day in the woods at Long Wood recently. These young people quite often have responsibilities in looking after family members and this day provided them with the opportunity to enjoy the woodland environment, where they could have fun and learn new skills whilst working with other young carers in a similar situation to themselves.

Tutors Sally Harvey and Anna Thomas ran the session, where they learnt bushcraft skills, cooking popcorn over the fire that they had lit using flint and steel fire-lighters, building shelters using tarps and rope and other fun activities. A great day was had by all the young people before they headed home.
