Tyllwyd Woodland
Location:
Tyllwyd, Llanfarian, Ceredigion.
Description:
The majority of the site is classified as PAWS (Plantation on Ancient Woodland). There are a wide range of species, including Corsican and Lodgepole pine, Japanese and European larch, Douglas and Noble fir, together with pockets of Japanese Red Cedar, although the woodland is gradually reverting back to a more native species. Around 50% of the woodland is now dominated by broadleaves or with an understorey of native broadleaf natural regeneration.
How to get there:
On the Systrans Ystwyth Trail cycle pathor by car via Lon Tyllwyd, Llanfarian.
Various bus services stop in the village of Llanfarian and the woodland is approximately one mile walk along Lon Tyllwyd.
Facilities:
There are several structures, including a cabin, covered workshop, another large wooden posted building providing a covered work/meeting space with a fire pit and carpentry/activity workspaces. Further into the woods there is a rustic roundhouse.
At the entrance to the site there is a small car park and notice boards. There are two composting toilets.
