Celebrating in style at the Menter Aberystwyth Awards

We were thrilled to have been one of three local charities shortlisted as finalists for the Making Life Better Award in Menter Aberystwyth’s Gwobrau Cyntaf Aberystwyth First Awards 2017. The Awards are designed to acknowledge best practice and excellence, whilst recognising the hard work, outstanding contribution and high standards displayed by individuals, organisations and businesses in the Menter Aberystwyth area. There are ten awards in total, each designed to reward a different category of outstanding performance. Finalists are selected through a rigorous process of nomination, short-listing and final judging by an independent panel of experts.
The ceremony was a grand occasion, held at the Old College, King Street, Aberystwyth on Friday 23 June. A lovely evening was had by all, a chance to network with other finalists as well as saying a quick hello to Ceredigion’s new MP Ben Lake.
Ffion, Leila and Angie represented the staff and John Wildig came along from our Trustees.
The Making Life Better award category was sponsored by Aberystwyth Town Council and so was the only award that evening to be presented by the Mayor of Aberystwyth in all his finery.
In the end we didn’t win, but we were thrilled for John Murphy, who has dedicated a large amount of his life to raising funds for lots of local good causes through FUGS. Congratulations go to all the other finalists and winners in what was billed as the strongest group of nominations since the awards began.
Tir Coed received a Highly Commended certificate, which will now be displayed with pride in the office.
