Health and Safety in Forestry Refresher Course
Written by Tir Coed / Tuesday 15 November 2016
10 tutors and 4 members of staff attended the Health and Safety training day with many interesting discussions and scenarios considered throughout the day.
The session started in Llanfarian village hall where Chris of MWMAC presented on Health and Safety legislation and best practice. Ffion was also able to update everyone on Tir Coed health and safety procedural developments going into the next major project ensuring everyone was informed and also opening up discussions and suggestions to the group. This was a great opportunity for Tir Coed tutors to make sure they are working to current legislative practices in both their Tir Coed work and in their personal businesses.
The group took to the woods for the afternoon session, looking at practical situations Tir Coed tutors find themselves in when delivering the accredited training courses and carrying out woodland management activities, construction, crafts and forestry. It was a good opportunity for everyone to input into developments and also to reflect on their practice and how it can be improved.
Everyone spoke positively about the day and will receive certificates of attendance to go in their work portfolio. Thanks to MWMAC for running a bespoke and well-tailored training day on Tir Coed’s behalf.
