Long Wood volunteers and the Tir Coed bench
Written by Tir Coed / Wednesday 19 October 2016
Sadly, the VINE project is now coming to an end at Long Wood. The recent celebration event held in the woods was really successful and one of the activities run in the Forest School area was greenwood crafts. Members of the public had the opportunity to use some of the traditional tools and learn some of the skills from tutors Rob Smith and Eifion Wakefield. One of the things they contributed to was to start work on a special Tir Coed bench.
This bench needed to be finished and installed at Long Wood. So the brilliant Wednesday Volunteers from Long Wood got stuck in and worked with Rob and Eifion to put this lovely oak bench together and install it in a special spot overlooking the pond near the visitor centre. Many thanks to Jon Addis the warden who provided additional materials to create a platform for the bench to sit on.
The Tir Coed bench now provides a quiet, relaxing spot to sit awhile and watch the dragonflies fly by and spend some time watching the other creatures that live in the pond.
