  • Final Powys Young Carers Activity Day in Allt Goch Woods, Llanidloes

This is the fifth of five sessions for Powys Young Carers. It has been a really positive and enthusiastic reaction from the team at PYC who will go out of their way to ensure the young carers take up as many of the Tir Coed opportunities as they can in order to enrich the carers' lives. We are very impressed with PYC and they have been awarded a further 8 sessions across Powys with Tir Coed in order to provide educational woodland activities and skill development to young carers in more rural areas of Powys who otherwise may miss out. We look forward to a long lasting relationship with PYC into the future.

  • VINE Harvest Celebration: Tir Coed and Both Coed Open Day, Allt Goch Woods, Llanidloes, 22nd October.

We have a real treat in store Saturday 22nd October, 13:00 to 16:00. Last year's partnership Open Day with Tir Coed and Both Coed was a massive success where over 100 residents, families and local businesses joined together to create a wonderful woodland experience to celebrate May Day. This year we are coming together again at Allt Goch Woods, llanidloes to celebrate Apple Day and the Autumn Harvest. This will be the final Open Day of the Tir Coed VINE Project and we hope that Both Coed will continue to be supported to develop activities within the community woods into the future. Two Tir Coed volunteers who have progressed through mentorship and are now Tir Coed Support Tutors and Martin Cope, Tir Coed Project Officer, now sit on the Both Coed Committee. This Open Day will see local businesses providing pizzas on the open fire and natural teas. Tir Coed Tutors will be providing music and forest school activities. Pete Williams from Red Dragon Bushcraft will be leading an interactive fire-lighting and bushcraft session. There will be storytelling and dramatical performances. And Tir Coed's specialist ecologist, Scott Roe will be presenting his biodiversity monitoring report which will present the ecological impact of Tir Coed's training courses and activities over the last three years. Please 'get in touch' if you wish to come so we can gauge numbers. Also please get in touch if you wish to help out with preparations on Friday 21st October and / or in the morning of Saturday 22nd?
