Progression at Tir Coed

At Tir Coed, progression isn’t just a buzzword, it’s the backbone of everything we do.
From the very first day a trainee steps into our woodland spaces, to the moment a team member steps into a senior leadership role, we are continuously investing in people. We believe in creating environments where individuals grow in confidence, skills and ambition and where they have real opportunities to shape their own futures.
From Trainee to Team Member
Many of our past and present staff members started their journey with Tir Coed as trainees. Whether they joined to learn practical skills, gain confidence or connect with their local environment and community, they left their training not just with tools in their hands but with a sense of direction and purpose. When a trainee becomes a team member, they’ve already internalised our values and mission, making them some of the most dedicated and impactful people we could ask for.

Justin started as a trainee in Ceredigion and is now supporting the Activity Leaders to deliver sessions.
Nel and Wayne both started as trainees in Pembrokeshire and went on to be appointed as Pembrokeshire Mentor, Nel is now our Comms Assistant. Sharon also came on a course in Pembrokeshire and was later appointed as the coordinator.

Promoting from Within
We’re equally proud of the number of staff who have gone on to become senior leaders within the organisation. We recognise talent, nurture leadership potential and believe that those who’ve grown with Tir Coed are best placed to help steer its future. Our senior managers have first-hand experience of the challenges and opportunities that arise across every layer of our work. When they lead, they lead with empathy, authenticity and deep understanding.
Nancy also started as the Pembrokeshire Mentor and probably holds the record for the most different Tir Coed job titles, she is currently our Head of Development. Cath joined Tir Coed as Ceredigion Coordinator and is now Co-CEO and Head of Operations.
Why It Matters
Progression at Tir Coed isn’t limited to job titles, it’s about people realising their potential. Whether someone is taking their first steps back into the workforce or climbing the next rung of the leadership ladder, we are committed to supporting them them.
Our ethos of progression creates a ripple effect. When people grow, they inspire others to grow. When we promote from within, we build a stronger, more resilient organisation, one that’s rooted in lived experience, shared values and a belief that everyone has something to offer.
At Tir Coed, we don’t just build skills. We build futures.
