Securing Success: AnTir Powys Project

Written by Tir Coed / Tuesday 20 February 2024

Tir Coed are delighted to announce their recent success in securing funding to deliver the AnTir Powys Project in 2023/24.

The AnTir Powys Project has received £161,412 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, supported by Powys County Council. This project will enable Tir Coed to deliver woodland, nature-based, food growing and heritage skills courses, taster sessions and volunteering opportunities across Powys.

The provision will offer people work-specific skills, accredited learning and experience relevant for green jobs, and includes one-to-one mentoring, advice and guidance, supporting person-centred progression towards greater economic and community engagement.

The practical work undertaken during the AnTir Powys Project will serve to enhance both community spaces and biodiversity for the benefit of all.

Operations Director Cath Seymour says: “This is fantastic news for the future of Tir Coed in Powys. It means that we can continue to support disadvantaged people, offer more tailored training for those who aspire to progress into outdoor jobs within land-based or green-skills sectors. Our training courses and volunteering opportunities will contribute towards the enhancement of community spaces for the collective wellbeing of all. It means that we can contribute our small part in responding to key challenges faced by the people of Powys, while helping local communities become more resilient.”
