Sustainable Woodland Management - Ceredigion

Written by Tir Coed / Thursday 08 February 2018

Ceredigion’s 12 week Training Course in Sustainable Woodland Management began last
week at Coed Tyllwyd, Llanfarian.

The 12 participants were given a tour of our Llanfarian woodland, Coed Tyllywd before beginning on their journey.

The very knowledgeable lead tutor, Rob Smith and support tutor, Cath Rigler identified tree species and explained about the management practices that have been carried out as an introduction to the woodland and it’s different compartments.

It was good for the participants to see the scope of the work that has been done,  become familiar with the woodland and the variety of species it supports. There was quite a bit of walking but it kept us warm and gave time for the group to get to know each other better.

The participants have already experienced a few different weather conditions including snow at the beginning of the week. The weather has not kept the participants from working hard and making a difference to the woods.
