Tell us a little something about yourself...
My name is Al and I was born and raised here in Aberystwyth. I have been happily married for more than 15 years and have two teenagers. Over the years, I have had a varied career. I have worked for different health and wellbeing charities. My past roles have been all around facilitating outdoor activities and educational courses such as eco-therapy, gardening, and walking for wellbeing.
What are your hobbies?
During Lockdown, I decided to take up a new hobby – paddleboarding. We spent all of the summer at the beach in the fresh air.
What excites you most about your new role?
I am a huge advocate for outdoor recreation and education am very excited to be involved in the new direction for TirCoed: encouraging people to create green spaces for biodiversity and growing food locally.
What do you enjoy most about being outdoors?
I love being outside, surrounded by the sounds and smells of the outdoors.
What's your favourite season of the year and why?
My favourite season is spring with all the sights and sounds of the new life awakening from the winter sleep.
If you were a tree, what tree would you be and why?
If I was a tree I would be a willow. The rational is that I’m an easy going person and happily go with the flow to help others which reminds me of willow: hardy, resilient and useful.
