Ceredigion trainees hit the right note as course nears completion

Written by Tir Coed / Monday 02 August 2021

The Ceredigion woodland carpentry course is nearing completion and trainees have been working hard on a number of individual projects.

One such project has seen them making musical instruments for Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos in Penparcau. Designs range from a wooden drumkit to a crocodile zither with xylophones and clackers in between!

Alongside this, they have been building a flatpack portable compost loo designed to be moved to other woodland sites when running courses in the future.

The last week was spent revisiting an area of the wood that was coppiced two winters ago and is now buzzing with wildlife. Here the group was able to complete workbook tasks such as illustrating a biodiversity web, shelter building and fire lighting – and they also able to enjoy some welcome shade from the scorching sun!
