Elan Valley 12 week Training Course

Written by Tir Coed / Wednesday 24 October 2018

In September, the current 12 week course at Elan began. Based in Elan Village and led by tutors Colin Titley and Dave Thomas, the first task for the group was to create a seating area that can be used by Tir Coed groups in the future.

Trainees quickly got to work, clearing an area of scrub and old fencing. They then levelled the area and installed revetment boards, steps and seating. They have also designed and made an additional bench and positioned this in the area. The space looks great.

The group have been working well together and have been enjoying learning new carpentry skills as well as becoming familiar with a wide variety of tools.

The second half of the course will continue to see everyone hone their design and carpentry skills as they make a gate and doors.
