Staff and volunteers build hedge wedges in Aberystwyth

Written by Tir Coed / Friday 18 November 2022

Tir Coed staff and volunteers have been helping nature flourish in Aberystwyth.

The team joined forces with RSPB Cymru to help create a “hedge wedge” at Penparcau Community Hub.

A hedge wedge is a small block of hedging plants where nature and wildlife can survive and thrive.

Hedge wedges are ideal for smaller areas unsuitable for larger, longer hedges.

Once spring comes around, the hedge wedges will create a series of thickets and provide a mosaic of wildlife refuges for birds, small mammals and insects.
