Vik can’t wait to get her hands dirty

Tell us a little something about yourself...
Shwmae! I’m Vik, recently released into the wild after a long time working in public health and community work, also a jobbing gardener and horticulture student. I’m excited to be part of the AnTir team reconnecting people to land and food.
What are your hobbies?
Growing my own dinner – not always successfully, but always enjoyably - alongside the good folks and wildlife of Aberystwyth allotments; being around horses and exploring the Ceredigion countryside.
What excites you most about your new role?
Gardening is innate within all of us, you don’t need to be an expert – just access to a bit of land and a bit of help. I get to make that happen and see people grow.
What do you enjoy most about being outdoors?
The flow. Complete absorption and connection.
What inspires you?
Gardening is a lifelong adventure. There’s no end point, and no failure – just experience.
What's your favourite season of the year and why?
Can I say all of them? I love the constant change and rhythm (although this is where I feel climate anxiety most too), but perhaps late summer, after the harsh sun and hayfever has subsided. Harvest.
If you were a tree, what tree would you be and why?
Probably a Hawthorn – impatient for spring, happy in my own company or as part of a mixed hedge, welcoming to wildlife.
