Week 5 of Volunteering

Written by Tir Coed / Wednesday 17 October 2018

This week a small number of the group focussed on making a hexagonal fire-pit bench for a local primary school and preparing poles and pegs to support a tarpaulin cover.

Volunteers draw-knifed the seating planks and prepared log rounds as supports whilst others began thinning the area behind the roundhouse, removing hemlock and favouring native deciduous trees.

As ever, Doris expertly supervised us concluding a very productive and positive day. Volunteer sessions were postponed for the next few weeks due to participants undertaking woodfuel and chainsaw training so watch this space for more news and updates soon!
