Women in the Woods

From the first hour of the first day there has been a special energy in the roundhouse at Scolton Woods over the last five Mondays. Led by two very special facilitators, ten women from around Pembrokeshire came together to learn new skills and connect with the woodland and each other.
Freelance Tutors, Maia Sparrow (Aderyn) and Tracey Styles (Cornerwood) met weeks before the course began to carefully plan a thoughtful and joined-up programme of activities to suit people of any experience level. Many of the exercises offered the group an opportunity to learn from each other and all encouraged them to see, hear, feel, smell and even taste nature in a new way.
When visiting their camp on the last day, over woodland pakoras and birthday cake, the joy was palpable and no one wanted to go home. One participant said "The course leaders created a very supportive space in which to enjoy exploring nature based activities and share and listen, creating connections as a group of women. 100% of the participants said in their feedback that they wished the course had been longer and, since the course, they have established their own regular meet ups in natural spaces across Pembrokeshire.
