Tir Coed's 12-week Sustainable Woodland Management courses have now drawn to a close across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and Powys. These Agored Cymru accredited courses have equipped participants with practical skills and a passion for sustainability, strengthening their connection to the natural world.

Over the past weeks, trainees have engaged in hands-on learning, mastering essential woodland management techniques such as coppicing, felling, and pollarding. With silky saws, axes, and throes in hand, they honed their expertise while prioritising personal safety and responsible tool use. More than just practical know-how, participants gained a deep understanding of woodland biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources.

Now, as they take the next steps, our trainees will continue working alongside Tir Coed mentors to explore progression opportunities—whether through volunteering, further training, or seeking employment where they can apply their new skills.

Meanwhile, the hard work they’ve put in over the past 12-weeks will have lasting benefits, enriching our local woodland sites and supporting the species and communities that depend on them.
