Over the last 3 years, the VINE project at Long Wood Community Woodland has provided opportunities for local people to develop new skills, learn how to sustainably manage woodlands and how to use the timber from the woods to create beautiful things.
Now the last training course has just finished, this one actually took place at Llanfarian and involved building a stunning building from natural roundwood timber. Expert tutor in building roundwood timber structures, Jamie Miller from Ty Pren, along with support tutors, Ray Miller and Kelly Cutler, have been running this training course for 2 days a week over the last 3 months. At the beginning there were 9 people attending, and over the weeks 5 committed and enthusiastic people have continued to turn up in all weathers to learn the skills and use the traditional tools to construct this eco-friendly timber building that will be used for future learners in the years to come. Congratulations to you all and many thanks for all your hard work and commitment, as well as to the amazing tutors, Jamie, Ray and Kelly. It’s been such a pleasure to work with you all.
